Our Whole Lives (O.W.L.)
Our Whole Lives (O.W.L.) is a comprehensive sexuality education program that presents
accurate information in developmentally appropriate ways.
This fall, we are offering O.W.L. for the first time on Peaks Island for students in 4th–6th grades.
O.W.L. is secular and grounded in the values of self-worth, sexual health, responsibility, and justice and inclusivity.
The course, which will include 10 sessions with students, will be led by two trained teachers:
Margaret Myers (executive director of the Peaks Island Children's Workshop)
and Tyler Schwaller (Student Equity Officer/Title IX Coordinator for the Portland Public Schools).
O.W.L. affirms that parents are children's primary sexuality educators, and the program will begin
with an orientation for parents and will involve regular, transparent communication throughout.
Days and times will be based on availability. When you register, you will find a link to indicate your preferences.
